ประโยค Passive Voice คือ ประโยคที่ประธานเป็นผู้ถูกกระทำด้วยกริยา เช่น Bread is eaten by John. (ขนมปังถูกทานโดย John)ประธานของประโยคนี้ คือ Bread ซึ่งเป็นผู้ถูกกระทำกริยา eats โดย John

หลักในการเปลี่ยนประโยค Active Voice เป็น Passive Voice

1. นำกรรมของประโยค Active Voice มาเป็นประธานของประโยค Passive Voice เช่นActive Voice : John eats bread.=> Passive Voice : Bread is eaten by John.2. เปลี่ยนคำกริยาของประโยค Active Voice เป็นช่องที่ 3 และจะต้องมี Verb to be อยู่หน้าคำกริยานั้นเสมอ(จะใช้ Verb to be ตัวใด ขึ้นอยู่กับประธานของประโยค Passive Voiceและ Tense ของคำกริยาตัวเดิมใน Active Voice) เช่นActive Voice : John eats bread.=> Passive Voice : Bread is eaten by John.*** ใช้ is eaten เพราะประธานของ Passive Voice เป็นนามนับไม่ได้ และคำกริยาของ Active Voice เป็นช่อง 1 (eats)3. นำประธานของประโยค Active Voice ไปเป็นกรรมของประโยค Passive Voice โดยมีคำว่า by นำหน้า เช่นActive Voice : John eats bread.=> Passive Voice : Bread is eaten by John.** ถ้าประธานของประโยค Active Voice เป็นคำสรรพนาม (Pronouns)เมื่อเปลี่ยนไปเป็นกรรมของประโยค Passive Voiceจะต้องเปลี่ยนรูปเป็นกรรมตามไปด้วย เช่นActive Voice : He ate bread.=> Passive Voice : Bread was eaten by him.
